Holiday Times
My last day of work until Monday. I actually did not know I had the 24th off until yesterday, so I'm glad to have such a pleasant surprise. Tomorrow Cristi and I will finish up on Holiday stuff and go see The Princess and the Frog. I hope to catch Sherlock Holmes at some point this weekend. Just like mostly everyone in the Mid-Atlantic to North East, we were hit by the snow storm. Cristi and I stayed the entire weekend home. I only went outside once to dig out both mine and Cristi's car. I think that was the most work I've done in a year. As for NYE it seems like the numbers are dwindling, but you know what? That's ok with me. I kind of wanted something small anyways, and if the numbers are low? Then hey more time to spend with the folks that will be there. We are still going to have an awesome time. I'm playing through Mass Effect again in preparation for part 2. I wish I could keep all my character stats but change the look of my character, he looks like a Neanderthal. I have a bad habit where I keep trying to press select for the map (like in Dragon Age) but instead grenades are thrown. I also hope they plan on either improving or getting rid of the Mako missions. That was the only negative thing that game had in my opinion. Oh yeah I did enjoy Avatar, I wish I got to see it in IMAX. Oh well I bet it'll look really nice on Blu Ray. Well seeing as I rarely update my LJ, this will more than likely be my last post of the year. So everyone have a great Holiday and an awesome New Year!! Current Mood: calm |

ICC gear
I've been doing some number shuffling, and I think I've figured out Caluwen's Icecrown wishlist. It'll take forever for me to assemble it, but I'm keeping the dream alive. ( gear stuff ) |

Wheee…. The Day After party, 1/2/2010 We’re past the hump, and the days will only start to grow longer now.
I’m doing ok! How are you? “For now we’re healthy, for now we’re employed, for now we’re happy, if not overjoyed, and we’ll accept the things we cannot avoid… for now…”
Anyway, 1/2/2010 – Saturday after New Years Day, the Day After… Potluck lunch and dinner hangout day at my place in Harlem! Videos, games, food, but most importantly, good company. Daytime party, so folks have the option of going out on the town in the evening.
Ping me here if you want to know the details. Space is limited! XD

Public://Stephan's Cyber Mohawk and Mask
The headpiece and mask for Stephan's cyber-project in January that I passed on this year, but opted just to do these two pieces since I LOVE doing cyber hardware. He's actually going to GLUE it to his head, being that he has a shaved head, which makes my life 10X easier. The front and back however, have latex strips that I stitched down to keep the headpiece from sliding around. |

Afterwards, Hot chocolate was absolutely called for… And then I fell asleep in the beanbag chair for two hours. ^_^;;

Fuck My Life
Anybody knows what happens if you fail to appear for your scheduled jury duty? Cuz yeah, really smart for them to send notices two months in advance and no reminders. |

my phone line is cut off
So yes my phone is not going to be on until I get a new line next year with a new phone. I might have to go back to AT&T since I heard the other services aren't reliable. :( I might as well stick with them. Even if you call or text I won't be able to answer because I have no phone line- best way to contact me is email/livejournal messaging/twitter/facebook if you need to reach me. |

Apparently the predictions for the incoming snow is bad enough that UMD has flat out CANCELED finals tomorrow. So, as for me, I'm going to send off the one letter I have, get some good and snacks for the weekend, and get ready to hole up for the weekend. Ironically, I'd normally think it'd be lonely being shut-in all weekend, but then again, so is everybody else. I'm guessing LJ and all the other sites are going to be particularly busy with all the bored lonely people sitting at home with not much else to do. Then again, I have plenty of video games, anime, and books to read. Sometimes, being a nerd isn't so bad. |

So Many Noms
Spring BBQ is too far away. I think I want to get cakes, pies, and whatever else warms the winter season and watch a movie with a bunch of people on the new TV. |

lol stupid IT boys
lol, today adrian and his co-worker were mocking me cuz I didn't know what SOL stood for. Long story short, the guy emails me directly to mock me. After which I noticed his signature in his email linked to mailto:his-company's-president's email; not his own. And he has been at the company for 2+ years. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I guess they are friends cuz they are both do-ers of stupid things. Stupid IT boys, you can't mock me! (it was a slow day at work, can you tell? lol) Current Mood: bored |

Ahem...
What do tigers dream of, when they take a little tiger snooze. Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in her catwoman suit. Don't you worry your pretty stripped head we're gonna get you back to Tyson and your cozy tiger bed. And they we're gonna find our bestfriend Doug and then we're gonna give him a bestfriend hug. Doug, Doug, Oh, Doug Douggie Douggie Doug Doug. But if he's been murdered by crystal meth tweekers, well then we're s-hit out of luck. |

posting against my better judgment
For the past three months or so, I have felt completely and utterly redundant. Per usual, it's not due to any one thing, just lots of little things. I really hope that I can find something to do that allows me to feel proud of myself again. Maybe that's why Aden's here. Current Mood: depressed |

Multi-Post
1) I played about three or four hours of Left 4 Dead last night before going to bed. Not surprisingly, I had zombie dreams. Thing is, we were trying to escape from a location in New York City, and it was a bunch of people I really know, not the player characters. Oh, and we found out that the zombies were sleeping (since it was night) and that if we were really quiet we could sneak past them (lol hax0rz). Oh and members from Green Lantern were with us trying to escape, too. 2) Anybody looking to move in the DC area? My housemate that moved in in August didn't get into grad school as he expected and has taken a job out of state starting in January. Meaning, we need to find a new roommate ASAP. Rent is just over $500/month for a small room but a big house. Email me if you'd like details. |

Scientists are saying the future is going to be far more futuristic than they originally predicted.
For all the complaining I do about Facebook and Twitter being contentless, I realized that I don't really do much to add content to LiveJournal. Fall's been pretty hectic, mostly in good ways, so I'm not really sure how much I've shared what's going on with me. Heck, I'm not even sure what all has been going on. So with the end of the year approaching, here's some tidbits on me. I'm just a few signatures away from advancing to candidacy. What this means is that I can concentrate 100% on research now. It also means that graduation isn't just some nebulous goal on the horizon, but actually something I can be working towards. I've been pretty busy recently with this work, too, but we're making some very good progress. There have been a lot of problems, but each one we discover makes us find better ways of designing these microchips. We have a deadline approaching soon, actually, so despite the fact that my semester is over (unofficially) as of yesterday, I actually have more work to do for now. But we're wonderfully on schedule, so it's not going to be some frantic cramming at the end. Not too long ago I tried making up my own Bucket List. I looked at it when it was done and it was very bland and pedestrian. Thing is, I think of things almost every day that should probably go on there. Things that are by no means pedestrian or plain or boring. It's just how I think, I guess, that all the great ideas I have are the ones that just come to me while thinking about other things. Like each half of my brain is working independently, and I'm the boss who is only paying attention to one half at a time. Speaking of thinking, I've been doing a lot of it recently. Now, it's thankfully been quite some time since I went from being a fairly miserable person to somebody who can enjoy life. But, it's only been recently, and after some big ups and downs, that I feel like I've left that miserable person behind me. Finally, finally, I feel like the things I want out of my life are not just vague mirages on the horizon, but real and almost tangible things not far out of my grasp. Thing is, it's really the little things that count. The little things are the ones that aren't really so much planned or intended, but they ones that happen naturally. The little things are the ones that can trickle down deep into your soul. But back to that Bucket List. Just because some of the things on there were trivial doesn't mean I don't still want to do them. However, with research and writing taking over very soon, I don't know how much I can fit them in this next year. I still want to visit Hawaii and Australia, I still want to return to Europe and Japan, I still want to have a chance to see all the amazing things right here around me. I still want to see the opera and rock concerts. I still want to find some place where I can fall asleep and wake up again underneath the stars. Things are far from perfect, of course. I can't seem to get up before noon without three alarms and a cup of coffee. No matter how often I try to clean up, my room seems to turn into a mess again within an hour or two. And the house is cold. And I'm still not going to the gym as often as I wish I were. And some days I'm lonely. For as much success as we've had maintaining friendships despite differences in geography and life style, I still don't get to be as social as I wish I could be. I can't help but be envious of those who can go out every night with people they care about. But this isn't pessimism. The holidays are here, and however you celebrate, it's almost universally a time for sharing and caring. So, let's hope for plenty of good times this season. I intend to make it so. |

WTF.
lol, I got new winter boots last year, and they were great and toasty. I dug them out for Monday's disgusting slush-shit-storm, and I found that ONE of the boot's soles' rubber (omg badly worded lol) HARDENED and has next to no grip now. WTF. I mean, I know this happens when things age, but I bought them last year. And only one of them hardened. BLEH. Time to go to Winners. lol Current Mood: bored |
